![]() As such the character is more agile and you are given more freedom. ![]() For souls most move cannot be combined or are limited. ![]() OK here's the breakdown why the combat system is so great:1.The movement of the characters are just like Souls, you can run, jump, dash jump, parry & slash (instead of diving), but many of these movements can be combined to come up with your own fighting style. Good execution was always so satisfying.Īlso, here is an excerpt from Severance:BOD vs Dark Souls discussion (not relevant), it puts into words what I loved about Severance: Here is another video of a minor boss fight that also adds some background info.Īnyone else remembers? Got tips to recreate Severance: Blade of Darkness feeling in Requiem?Įdit: This video shows some hightlights of a more proficient combat from the game. I hope it gets across from watching the video (watch the pace, commitment of attacks and combos, stagger). Today I saw this video (watching few seconds is enough) of an old game I used to play and I instantly knew what my Skyrim lacked. But since the game it's so sweet and straightforward, and the plot exposure is mostly skippable so far, It really doesn't bother me like, at all.I fell in love with Requiem while I played it 2 years ago, I had lots of fun with the way the game was set, but I was missing something during melee combat. With dwarves, a knight's order, futhark runes, magic gems and ancient demons you can't get anything more derivative than this storywise. Also I like that the dodge is performed by sidestepping instead of rolling around the floor like some kind of sonic the hedgehog wannabe (at least for everyone but the amazon). Pretty much the opposite to the Dark Souls pc port. Giddy camera aside, the keyboard/mouse scheme feels pretty organic to the gameplay, I doubt It would be as good with a gamepad. Every enemy type has their own attack patterns and behavior: orcs are very aggresive, whereas knights rarely drop their defensive stance, zombies are slow as fuck and skeletons are faster but clumsy fighters, the big ones are similar though. ![]() ![]() I'm playing as the barbarian, It's pretty fun to abuse a foe's opening and turn it into mincemeat by chaining a couple combos also hurling the severed heads, impractical as weapons but amusing nonetheless. ![]()
